Bless and treat
Here’s an idea. How about we get together with our lovely children/ flatmates/ families/ friends to impact our community in the name of Jesus this next week?
Picture it…We get together and all dress up in things that could be described as bringing light and life and joy. Clowns, angels, sunshine, stars, butterflies, pantomime horses or rubber chickens if you can get them! Then we go out into our streets with large baskets full of flapjack or cookies, maybe even some gospels from CLC, and along the way we memorise the following blessing.
‘The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord make His face shine on you
and give you His peace.’
Then we start knocking on doors.
Our neighbours answer and we politely refuse their gifts, but we
give to them instead. They expect to be tricked and frightened, but we
bless them with words of scripture. When we leave them, they are
holding something nice to eat, the words of God to read, the blessing
of God in their ears, and a little note saying who we are and why we’ve
been.
Halloween has been turned upside down and the evening is now a hallowed one in the name of Jesus.
OK, so it’s a bit different, you may never have tried it before, but here’s a thought… LET’S HAVE A GO! For the sake of the kingdom of God, what have we got to lose?
If you want some more
information, email the church office and they’ll send you out
some practical hints and tips to get you going.
