Day 7 (Monday)

Posted by Mark Elder on 5 Aug 2008

Well, we’ve been here a week now.

Well, we’ve been here a week now. Great to speak to our boys who are presently at my mother-in-laws in Rochdale!! but will be home Wednesday. They love America, so they’re dead jealous. Having to compensate by bringing home lots of goodies of the sporty variety. Today we returned from the heat of Redding (105 deg) to the relative normality of LA. I suspect the impact of all that has happened in this northern Californian city will stay with us long after the tan’s washed off.

We got frisked at the airport (again). Wasn’t aware that Zoe and I looked like Al-Qaeda terrorists. Decided against telling my frisking friend my joke about President Bush and his grasp of foreign affairs, on the basis that it might spark a diplomatic incident.

So to the next step of our pilgrimage: Chicago, the windy city. Really looking forward to it, though there will bound to be teary farewells today as we bid the Jensens au revoir. Zoe’s taking Christine (and her sister, who’s also here) off to get their nails done (as you do!!). Thinking of taking Phil off for a pedicure over a couple of Bud’s.

Oh, and by the way, if you fancy seeing some pictures of this trip, try logging on to Christine Jensen’s facebook. She takes a crackin’ picture. You may even discover the mystery of the ‘wave’.

“..that the king of glory may come in” (Ps 24:7b). Life can be lived in 2 ways: either by living at a purely horizontal level, or by living with an upward orientation. I want to choose the way of the God-ward, the upward, the heavenly…that the king may come and do His stuff. Try living with a lifted head.
