Mark’s Musings - Day 2 (Wednesday)

Wow, what a brilliant day today has been: action packed; eventful; great places; wonderful memories.

Wow, what a brilliant day today has been: action packed; eventful; great places; wonderful memories. It all started with a trip to the Getty museum. It is jaw-droppingly fantastic. The building itself is stunning, and that’s before you get to the beautiful paintings, the splendid sculptures and the countless other priceless artefacts. That’s not to mention the gardens…and the views…just breathtaking.

Then it’s off to Hollywood to meet the stars. Zoë applied extra lippy in case she bumped into Brad Pitt. We didn’t. The only stars we saw were the ones in the pavements (sidewalk) on Hollywood Boulevard, which are nonetheless impressive. Had my picture taken with Batman and Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. We even did the hands and footprints of the stars thingy – George Clooney has got massive feet!! Then off to see the best view of the famed Hollywood sign.

Then, to cap it off, we dined in a beautiful Mexican restaurant overlooking the Pacific. “I know, what a drag,” I can hear you saying. All this seasoned with great company and stimulating conversation. It really is great to catch up with the Jensen’s – they’re in great form. And there studies are transforming sharp cookies into ultra sharp cookies, giving even me a run for my money! They’ve got a ‘family creed’ up in their kitchen: ‘God first; keep it simple; have fun; live thankful’. Oh, and no whining. I like it.

“My cup overflows.” (Ps 23: 5b). Today I feel blessed and grateful. But on the many more menial days of walking the hard miles, this is still so true, cos God’s abundance to me is unending and overwhelming.
