Report from Korea

Posted by Anna McCall on July 6. Archived.

We are now well into our time here in Korea. It's mad! We can't really explain the atmosphere here, but you can check out some of whats going on live by logging onto www.cm2007.net
It's been personally very challenging for us. God is shaking our foundations (in a good way!). We are pretty exhausted at this stage so your prayers for energy would be appreciated. A highlight has been praying 'Korean style': I can't imagine people finding anything else to do when prayer meetings happen here. I cry everytime they lift their voices to God. I've never seen such zelaous, fervent, passionate, wholehearted, faith filled crying out to God. There has been 100% forecast for rain here the past week (it's monsoon season) and they have been praying that the rain would hold off... and guess what!?!

What kind of man is Gordon Brown?

Posted by Ian Wylie on July 2. Archived.

It's been a difficult first few days for our new prime minister. At yesterday's evening service, we had an opportunity to pray for Gordon Brown, but it can be difficult to pray effectively for someone you know little about. This morning I came across this insight into Gordon Brown's faith, values and moral compass. I hope it's helpful.

Report from Israel (2)

Posted by Ross McCall on July 2. Archived.

Shalom friends.
It's shabat (sabbath) here in Haifa so we have been to Kehila (Church) this morning and now our team are enjoying a few hours downtime.
It's been a great week. We have been on campus every day except for wednesday when we took a one day tour of the Galilee. Our team are learning quickly how to relate to Israeli students and they have been making good contacts. Thursday night we held a party to which we invited all the contacts we have made. There were lots of meaningful conversations going on all over the place so it was exciting to watch our team in action. » more

Report from Israel (1)

Posted by Ross McCall on July 2. Archived.

Hello friends.
We have arrived safely in Haifa with no hold ups. We met with our friends over the weekend for some training and have settled into our accomodation which is great, right in the heart of where students socialise.
Today was our first day on campus and already several of our group have people to meet up with again this evening. Amazingly within fifteen minutes on campus I bumped into a girl Anna and I met with a lot last year, but whose phone number and email we didn't have. She is called Moran and we hope she will come to a party we are throwing on Thursday night.
You may hear on the news that there have ben two rockets fired at nothern Israel from Lebanon today. We are not concerned at this point as it's several hours away and appears to be an isolated incident. Our advisors here will keep a close eye on the situation though.
Tomorrow and Tuesday we are back on campus and then wednesday we are going to the Galilee for a trip, and it's my birthday so that will be very special.
Driving into Haifa on Friday Anna and I both felt excited to be back, and felt strangely at home. This is a very special place.
Thank you for your prayers.
