Love work, live life
Want to find out why your work matters to God and how he wants to use you in your place of work? On Tuesday, September 26th at 7.30pm we are hosting a seminar when David Oliver will debunk the myth that the only work God is interested in is full-time Christian service.
It's a Care for the Family seminar and David has wide work experience - from managing an international company to running a business from home.
Tickets
cost £6 and can be secured by adding your name to the sign-up sheet on
the welcome desk at the front of church. Alternatively, you can reserve
a ticket by phoning the church office. I have reserved 50 tickets for
HBC as the event is going to be open to the wider Christian community
in the north east.
Is there more to life than this?
The Alpha Supper is an opportunity to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening setting over 12 though-provoking sessions. The next course starts on Monday, September 25th at 7.15pm and will be an opportunity for anyone wanting to find out what the course involves before making up their minds whether they wish to participate.
There
is no charge for the course and a meal is provided each evening. More
details are available from the church office (0191 265 7044 or
office@heatonbaptist.org).
NE1 prayer room
On Wednesday I went to the NE1 24/7 prayer room. What an amazing
experience. I have never known God's presence hit me like it did there.
I went with a few ideas of my own of what to pray, but they were blown
away, and other, 'deeper' and more heartfelt prayers and wordless
prayers took over.
I feel really privileged, and quite overwhelmed. If you get the chance to join the pray-ers for NE1, the prayer room is inspirational!
Sneak preview
I thought the Sunday morning children's service was really good, and a sneak preview perhaps of the future. I've not been to a service before where only children are at the front throughout, and it worked really well. It is also good to reflect on the elements we have in a church service and the reasons for including them.
Coming soon to a church near you
All four of us are really looking to joining you all from September. I write this in my last week at Poynton, amidst the record breaking temperatures. Life is full of packing, last minute jobs, and farewell 'do's'. Really looking forward to some hols in August before the adventure in Heaton begins.
We would really value your prayers as we move on July 27th, both at the Poynton and Heaton end of things; and that we'll quickly settle into life in Newcastle. Somebody has already bought us Teach Yourself Geordie, so I'm hoping to have a few useful phrases up my sleeve soon!
Lots of love,
Mark, Zoe, Aaron and Joss.
