Great listening - Summer Theology School talks available now in video or audio format...
You’ll be aware of the recent Theology school we hosted here at HBC, receiving delegates from different parts of the country. From feedback we’ve received it was a really successful school, and one which we will consider repeating in the future. Can I commend the four different sessions to you, which are now available on video as well as audio on the NBA or Fresh Streams websites.
Women in Leadership: the next part of the journey – Kate Coleman
In this session Kate shares her own story, gives an overview of the biblical material, and charts the journey of how this matter has been viewed in church circles. It is essential viewing for anyone wanting to grasp why women should be welcomed into all areas of leadership.
A Christian Response to Militant Atheism – David Wilkinson
As well as being principle of St Johns college, Durham, David is a scientist with specialisms in physics and astronomy. He looks at the credibility of the Christian message, using Paul’s teaching in Acts as the basis for engaging with atheists in an attitude of boldness and humility. This is definitely one for those who feel that science and faith are not compatible.
Children and God: countering the ‘shush’ mentality – Gordon and Aileen Innes
Gordon and Aileen reflected on the way Jesus engaged with children in comparison to the way the church has traditionally adopted a ‘seen but not heard’ approach. They encourage creative ways of worship for all ages and look at ways the inherent spirituality of a child can be encouraged. Vital viewing for all children, youth workers and worship leaders.
Christianity and Homosexuality: navigating the minefield with grace and truth – Phil Robinson
Phil Robinson looks clearly and critically at the various passages relating to this issue, using them as the basis for the way churches tend to relate to people who are gay. This session will be a great conversation starter for any church or leadership team wanting to address this critical issue.
Why not check out some of this material over the summer, it will be well worth your while!
